Sri Bala Balaji Temple-Appanapalli
This place having several interesting stories. Kasiyapa Maharishi had two wifes.Kadruva was the first one and all her offspring were serpents.vinatha was the second wife,who had a son named vynateya. Due to some unknown reasons, Vynateya had eaten up all the serpents in a day. Those serpents are request to when a king named Jeemuthavahana. He tried to save a serpent named sankachududu,he died this place. Since Jeemuthavahanan sacrificed his life for a holy cause,this place came to known as Arphanaphali, now its called Appanapalli. Kasyapa maharishi, as requested by Jeemuthavahana asked vynateya to divert one channel of holly river Godavari to flow through Appanapalli. The purpose was to consecrate the dead serpents and to liberate their souls to reach heavenly abode.
